Environmental Health Services

Environmental conditions, some occurring naturally and others manmade, have an effect upon the well-being of the county. Contamination of the air, ground, water, and food may cause disease or death. Public health tries to prevent or contain such contamination.

What is considered an environmental emergency?

  • Truck and train wrecks involving food products.

  • Natural and man-made disasters such as fires, floods, and earthquakes.

  • Food tampering and food product recalls.

Permits for on-site sewage must be obtained from the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services. Call (573) 751-6095 for more information.
